Why VLSI ?

VLSI (Very-large-scale integration) is a process that means to create integrated circuits by combining thousands of transistor-based circuits into a single chip. VLSI began in the 1970s when complex semiconductor and communication technologies were being developed. The microprocessor is a VLSI device. Nearly all modern chips employ VLSI architectures.

The first semiconductor chips held two transistors each. Subsequent advances added more and more transistors, and, as a consequence, more individual functions or systems were integrated over time. Current technology has moved far past this mark and today’s microprocessors have many millions of gates and billions of individual transistors.
With the design & manufacturing market (both domestic & international) expanding rapidly, there is an enhanced demand of trained professionals who will boost the technical work force in the VLSI domain.

There is a rising demand for chip driven products in consumer electronics, medical electronics, communication, aero-space, computers etc. More and more chip designing companies have set up their units in India eyeing on the Indian talents; besides many of the Indian Major IT companies have forayed in Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) design in a big way.

Objective of the course

The students armed with an engineering degree can pursue our PG Diploma course in VLSI design.Being a fast-changing technology area,VLSI design is a challenging and creative sector that offers wide range of career opportunities in product companies,Design Services Companies and electronic design automation (EDA) companies.Our PG Diploma courses in VLSI design will be answer for the acute shortage of skilled engineers in the VlSI field.
This program is focusing more on providing the candidates knowledge in Designing of Digital Systems,system Architecture and Hardware description Language essential for VlSI Designing like VHDL. Candidates can learn how to program & test program on FPGAs,CPLDs etc.Candidates will get enough exposure to various FPGA design issues,CMOS Technology,VLSI Design techniques

On completion of this course,the students shall be :-

  • Expertise in different tools like Xilinx,Modelsim,Quartus

  • Exposure with different families and architectures of VLSI tools such as FPGA,CPLD etc.

    Full-fledged lab with Micro controller & DSP based development system,Digital storage Oscilloscopes,SMD soldering station, High precision Digital Multimeters,Xilinx,Altera and Mentor Graphics FPGA & PLD design tools,FPGA & PLD based demo boards,PCB design tools such as OrCAD Capture,OrCAD PCB Layout Plus etc.

    Eligibility

    1.Graduate in Engineering or equivalent (eg.BE/B.Tech/4 years B.sc Engg/AMIE) in Electronics/Electrical/Computer Science Engineering (CSE),instrumentation (AEI) or related areas.
    2.PG in Engg Science (eg,MCA/M.Sc.Engg,M.Sc.(CS,IT,EE,Electronics,Instrumentation)
    3.Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination and awaiting results may also apply.
    4.The candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in their qualifying examination
